Getting Ready

The birth tub is all set up and currently heating, hopefully it will make it to the proper temperature by tonight. Currently Constance is the only one using it. Being positioned a mere 2 feet or so from the fire, she considers it prime real estate and is willing to even endure some mild toddler abuse in order to keep her perch.

I finally got around to make the cord ties for the baby yesterday afternoon and night (during another marathon sleepless night). I’ve made a set of these for all of my babies but Iain. They just get sterilized like regular ties and they are ever so much gentler on sweet soft skin then those bulky plastic clip things.

I tell you, ten year old girls are on to something (do ten year old girls even do this sort of thing anymore??). I find making friendship bracelets to be highly relaxing and therapeutic. Iain helped to pick out the colors for these and I taught both of the older boys how to make their own.
Steve came home from work early today to help take care of us all and I’m just kind of laying low and taking it easy for a bit.

I know there are some comments out there that I would like to respond to, but it’s just not where my mind is at today, so I appreciate your understanding.

My sister and I used to make those endlessly. I had some embroidery thread on a recent trip, and ended up making some to pass the time on a plane.

Funny how it all came back to me, like riding a bicycle I suppose.

I’m getting a little misty-eyed reading your blog right now, knowing how close you are to bringing another sweet soul into the world. Even the cord ties made me tear up- what a lovely idea. Sending such warmth your way for this beautiful, difficult, amazing thing you will be doing.

Oh yes, you sound like you are in the final stages. The mind gets mushy for sure. How exciting! I remember being really spacey the days leading up to labor.
