A little while back, my mother requested that I make her a tea cozy. This was her birthday gift this year, the cozy, a trivet and this embroidered tea towel that I came across at a rummage sale, that made me think of her.
I used some buttons from my Grandmother’s button jar as accents and for something of a sentimental touch.
Some people can make a perfectly splendid quilted tea cozy, making it look so easy, and tricking the rest of us mere mortals into thinking that it will be just that easy.

I am clearly not one of those people. Not that the making of it was difficult, because it wasn’t.
Something fell apart with the design. I walked into the fabric store without the slightest doubt that I would quickly and easily just find the perfect combination of fabrics. That theory fell to pieces right quick. I didn’t like any combination of anything together. I did finally settle on something (obviously), but it doesn’t have the same kind of “pop” and charisma that I thought it would have (or that it had in my mind, before reality set in).
But if nothing else, as far as I know, it will keep tea warm. So, that’s something.
I love the way the tea cosy looks!
So pretty, a very sweet gift! I keep making “trivets”, not knowing what to call them, I just like to make them, now I know that I am correct in feeling that they are trivets. Thanks Log cabin is one of my favorite quilt blocks!
