This is what happens when two competing, but thankfully somewhat complementary, obsessions team up. Last week the I heart faces theme was “purple”. I couldn’t think of any appropriate pictures that I wanted to use for it. A couple of days before the challenge, I decided to make something purple so that I had an excuse to take purple pictures.
Right.
It’s ok to laugh at me or to roll your eyes, I did (both), Steve did (at least one). Truth be told, I also had another motive (excuse, pretense). All of the little half balls of yarn in my yarn basket, leftover from years worth of projects, have been irking me lately. I know I’ll use them all someday, but I wish to make them useful right now. Care must be taken with this however, for fear of simply creating smaller balls. This little project worked out just right, with nothing left over.
Pattern: none
Yarn: Valley Yarns Berkshire Bulky in ‘light grey’ and Araucania Nature Wool Chunky, color 135
All of the grey is crocheted, because I wanted to practice. Then I picked up the stitches all around it with the purple to knit the ribbed collar so it ended up being both knitted and crocheted (which begs the question, what shall I categorize it as on Ravelry??).
And as most of you well know already, I didn’t end up using a picture of her for the challenge at all, for lots of reasons, but mostly because I always use pictures of the kids, and I never use pictures of me, because as a rule I hate them, but I feel like I should try hard to like them. So this is an exercise in trying.
Since we both have little sweaters made of the same yarn, now we can be all cute and matchy and well, warm, together.
okay, if you do another or piece together some sort of pattern for this let me know! first, she is gorgeous and this little number is stunning on her – i mean i really, really LOVE it!! second, you are seriously talented to just make this stuff up, wow… around here, this would be oh so practical and quite stylish if i do say so.
I love it! I can’t knit at all. I used to be able to crochet a little, but it’s been years and I’m not sure I remember.
It is perfect! She looks adorable and I love the picture of the two of you. And congrats on the stashbusting with no extras!
Ha ha ha and smile. Love the sensible little shrug. Thank you for caring for yourself by sharing photos of yourself. Beautiful.
I think the pictures of you are very beautiful, just like your little girl in hand knit clothes!!! I hope this third baby is a girl—– so much more to knit !!!!
