While I was away, I got to visit with my friend and her new baby. It was so, so good to see them both. Good to visit with my friend who I miss so much and good to get to meet this new little munchkin of hers. Oh, and what a sweetie she is with fuzzy, pointy elf ears, a big shock of black hair and big chubby cheeks!
I made these dupioni silk slings for the both of them. The fabric and rings came from a mutual friend, with wonderful taste. I think they are just beautiful. They put me in mind of a silk sari. Màiri Rose was all for keeping them.
This is my absolute favorite way to wear a newborn, a double ring-sling set, with the little one upright, baby cheek to mama heart. It’s less convenient with a tall two and a half year old!
But still oh, so sweet.
I loved snuggling my baby when she was a tiny baby, and I still love it now (even though she is much more interested in giving mommy a quick hug, and then shoving me away so she can run and climb and play and do things, “c’mon mom, put me down i see the cat and there’s the books I’m not supposed to touch and you left your phone out and oh hey there’s the dog PUT ME DOWN” is how I imagine she’d sound.) The carrier we had made my life livable, since until a certain age, she wouldn’t sleep unless she was being cuddled.
Nothing made me happier than having a sweet, sleeping baby pressed to me. Actually, still, nothing makes me happier than having Cecelia snuggle up to me!
