32/52

A portrait of my children, once a week, every week.

A bit of a theme this week.

Iain and Elijah: They wanted to try making jam themselves. I love the look of intense concentration on Iain’s face and also the bit of jam on his cheek!  Elijah says, “I love the sound of jam bubbling away.”

Galen:  His specialty is scrambled eggs, and not so much breaking up the greens found therein.  Can you tell there was a lot going on in my kitchen on this particular day?

Màiri Rose: Helping with the laundry.  She swore she could handle it herself and she did.

I love these photos! I love the big boys canning jam together- in a year or so I could imagine my oldest two doing this. Funny I hadn’t thought of allowing them to try- I get so caught up in “needing to get it done!”
How handsome those boys are getting! I’ll bet they’re quickly overtaking you in height. My girl is already 5’4″. It feels so odd to me. I have a homeschool friend with four grown boys- it warms my heart when I see them all with their deep voices, dwarfing their mother, and calling her “ma.” Clearly needing her still!

Iain is officially taller then me at this point. Elijah is still a little peanut, he takes after my side of the family, so he’s got a ways to go.

I don’t know that I would have thought of allowing them to try either. It was their idea!
