As much as I disliked the first soaker, that’s how much I love these tiny soakers. When I was pregnant with Galen I knitted a tiny soaker. I think I was around 6 months at the time and I remember joking that the baby would have to be born then for it to fit. It was sssooooo very small! But fit it did. And while it only lasted for the first 2 or 3 weeks, it was really the only one that fit him properly during that time. Màiri on the other hand; none of my newborn clothes fit her! I actually gave them all away to a friend with a truly little one, thinking that any future babies of mine, were there to be any, would likely be just as large (Elijah was bigger even then Màiri).
Now here I am again thinking…well maybe it would be nice to have just a couple tiny baby things around, just in case. What if this baby, like Galen, decides to surprise us all by coming a couple of weeks earlier then is usual for me and is therefore more petite? Besides, it’s very difficult to resist making at least a few sweet teeny-tiny things. I think I can be reasonable and not make a lot, but a few? Pretty harmless, right?
Two little soakers, one with a girlish kind of slant and one a little boyish, though I would use both for either. The pattern is Adaptation again. This time I left the cuffs off. I didn’t think they would be very necessary at this phase and this way I was able to make an entire soaker from one $2.49 ball of yarn. Hard to beat that! The yarn is Wool of the Andes Worsted by Knit Picks. The color on the left is Victorian (so pretty!) and the one on the right is Cadet.
oh goodness, I love those ridiculously tiny newborn soakers!
My babies were all different sizes, with the boys all being big. Shea was little, under 7 pounds- becasue she was 3 weeks early. Newborn Cedar was huge all over (9 1/2 pounds) with big fat thighs, and Sun was super long with thin thighs. So a good assortment of sizes is always good, because you’re right- you never know!
But no matter what, they’re so little.

Very cute! The volors would really go with eaither boy or gitl.
Do you have any idea what the baby might be? By my fifth I kinda just knew. Lol. How exciting!

Whether I have a feeling or not, I tend to keep it to myself as I don’t like to get too attached to one idea or another.
Good idea;)
There are so cute, are they hard to make? would love to make some for my nephew and niece (they are new born twins) since I’ve been thinking of a great gift to give them.
I found them very simple to make. Very good for knitting while watching a movie!
