Nah…

For the most part, I find being able to order things on-line a godsend. But every-once-in-a-while it gets me into trouble. Like when I wait until nearly the last moment to order supplies for mother’s day gifts, only to find that when the yarn shows up it is the entirely wrong color… As it turns out what was called burgundy and appeared on my moniter as a deep red, in person is something between rose and magenta. Not. What. I. Had. In. Mind…. At. All.

Now my lovely Mother-in-law has a penchant for all things Early American and little bits of Americana show up through out her house. When planning her gifts I decided that a good old navy blue/dark red combo was in order. Believe me when I tell you that navy blue and pink, create an entirely different look all together. I tried to tell myself it was fine. Maybe it was just the lighting, or my eyes. Yeah, that’s it there is something wrong with my eyes… What else was I to do? I have to ship he gifts out soon and there is no time to order new yarn. So I started knitting. And I kept on knitting. I stayed up almost and entire night knitting. The longer I knitted, the more convinced I became that this simply wasn’t going to work. Two dishcloths later I was certain. It simply isn’t right for her. So, my wonderful, sweet and accomodating husband was sent to the store today to fetch the darkest, truest red cotton yarn he could find. And now I’m counting the days between now and the time I have to send this box out, trying to figure out how many things I need to knit each day to get it there in time.

As for my first attempt…I’m thinking of making them into a funky little purse for my sister’s birthday.

I loooove those dishcloths! a funky purse would be awesome! Add a couple big retro-ish crocheted flowers in contrasting colors and presto chango… how cool would that be?

Claire- Thank you. That’s exactly how I feel about reading your blog, always inspiring!

Stacy- oooo, I didn’t even think of flowers! I was just going to do some plain-jane, sew it up and add a strap kind of thing. I have to say though every time I look at them all I can think about is berries! It’s the blueberry, raspberry color combination thing. I might just have to do some sort of berry embellishment….hmmm…
