8 Things

It feels like it’s been an eternity since I posted last. We’ve had quite a bit of rain so far this June, a blessing for the gardens, not so much for the phone lines. We had several days with no internet, followed by illness and computer troubles. So, I’ve found myself on a bit of a blogging break. I think it was good for me to have some quiet for a time anyhow.

I see that in my absence I have been tagged again. It seems that I am supposed to list 8 facts about myself, so I will use this opportunity to catch you up on what I’ve been doing the last week and a half.

  1. Wiping lots of noses
  2. Knitting a lot
  3. Sewing a little
  4. Obsessing (um…freaking out?) over the insanity that is attempting to toddler-proof a small rustic cabin in the woods.
  5. Taking small steps towards making our home more homey
  6. Fighting with the computer
  7. Rescuing and releasing the bird the boys found trapped on our old screened-in porch (they are hoping that a blue-jay and a woodpecker get trapped in there next).
  8. Being thankful for my wonderful husband

And for the sake of balance, 8 things I haven’t been doing…

  1. Taking pictures
  2. Eating well
  3. Sleeping regular hours
  4. Spending lots of time in the garden
  5. Changing out of my pajamas
  6. Leaving the house
  7. Vacuuming
  8. Working on Father’s Day presents

As soon as I get a chance to take some pictures I’ll start posting about some of my recently finished projects.

I hope you have all been enjoying pleasant weather and avoiding the nasty cold that seems to be going around!

I can relate to the crazy-ness of toddlerproofing a cabin! We’ve built a lot of shelves, surrounded the woodstove in scavenged iron railings and tried to accept having to clean up the place a million times a day as he gets into the stuff we just can’t find a place for. Good luck!

We’ve been using similar strategies. Our two most problematic areas at the moment are the composting toilet and the computer area. All of our electric comes form one point (a large extension cord) and There is just a tangle of cords in that section of the house, that we need to do something about. The fascination with the composting toilet…oye, I don’t even want to talk about it! lol Also, lack of running water is getting to be more and more of an issue. It’s so hard to clean up after a messy little guy when you can’t just turn on a tap and get a copious supply of hot water.
