Temporary Digs

The better part of Sunday and a good chunk of Monday were spent slowly emptying out our front room (previously our entire living area, soon to be our newly made up mudroom with a corner reserved for my own little studio!). The floor starts going in on Monday morning and everything needs to be cleared out by then. Which means that my desk, all of my crafting supplies, as well as my homeschooling materials where slowly being evicted. Since there were no circumstances under which I was willing to part with them, for an undefined amount of time, other arrangements needed to be made.

And so, for the time being, this is my own little home within my home…

Nestled under what will be out stairwell…once we actually get stairs. It may be rather rough around the edges, but it has everything that I need and it’s about 8 billion times more organized the the work space I was moving from (I can just picture Steve reading this now and thinking “Give it a week!”).

Fabric, knitting needles, sewing needles, arts and crafts supplies, a big basket of yarn, a lovely row of homeschooling books, heavily peppered with pattern books and song books, my beloved thesaurus…rarely used, but a comfort none-the-less, the perfect dear petite journal, my favorite notebook, all finished off with a shawl and work bag draped over the chair…what more could a girl want?

Oh, and the great divided pine box currently housing all manner of art supplies? That was made for me by my eldest son.

We won’t have access to the front room or our bedroom for a while. I’m starting to stocked up for our exile, but still hoping that it won’t be too, too long!
