How to Ease a Broken Heart…

Uhm, or perhaps something a bit less dramatic!

I’m still quite bummed about my missing baby sweater, which is indeed still missing. I decided that the best course of action was to move on (while still secretly harboring a small glimmer of hope that it will resurface before it’s out-grown). And so a new baby sweater was in order, one of an entirely different sort…

Elizabeth Zimmerman’s February Baby Sweater from “The Knitter’s Almanac”. I’ve seen this sweater around a lot as it seems to be a perennial favorite among knitters, but it was my first go at it. It knit up quite quickly (2 or 3 nights) and the resulting sweater is quite sweet.

My version is knit in O-Wool Balance, color Jade. I finished it with some vintage buttons from my Mother-in-law, which seems to give it a distinctive, old-fashioned flair.

And so my little one will now have at least one new Mama-made sweater. Well, and a great many hand-me-down Mama-made sweaters, but every baby should have a couple of special new things me thinks.
