Sometimes a Girl Just has to Knit…

Well, it’s true! Sometimes that’s just what I need. I haven’t done much knitting for a while now. In fact, weeks and possibly even a month, or more (??) have gone by without me picking up my beloved needles. And consequently I’ve been feeling quite out of sorts. Though really it’s a chicken and egg sort of scenario, am I out of sorts because I’ve not been knitting? Or have I not been knitting because I’m out of sorts?? Hard to say… but I do know that I’ve been missing it.

My last project, still as of yet incomplete, was turning into a headache. A whole ordeal involving calculating yarn for the total project, but not the exact amount per color for stripe…trust me, you do not want to hear about it! My time and mental state is such that it is/was currently way too overwhelming for me. Every time I went to pick it back up, I’d find myself immediately putting it down again. Eventually I stopped bothering to pick it up in the first place. And so time passed, and as it did, I grew more and more uneasy. There was just this pervading sense that something wasn’t right.

What I needed was a quick fix. And so I fell back on an old-stand by. The LTK pilot cap. My very favorite bonnet for the wee-girl having been stretched to maximum capacity, I thought it high was time for a replacement.

Have you ever seen such fabulous rosy checks before???

No, I thought not.

I think this shade of pink just makes her look all the more rosy and sweet. It’s pretty much a perfect fit at this point. I’m thinking the next size up will be finding its way onto my needles very, very soon. I do so love a good bonnet you know.

Sweet Mara-boo (as Galen has deemed her; I am now his Mama-boo) and I had a most delightful, solitary excursion to the yarn store (where else?). And it seems that my next challenge will be of the knitting variety. Our local yarn store offers a hefty discount on large purchases, and so, after a great deal of careful planning, I came home with yarn for around a years worth of projects. That was fun I tell you! No really, actual fun! It’s ridiculous how very much I enjoy planning this sort of thing. And oh, to be in possession of all that yarn at once? Divine I tell you! Just think of the possibilities! Not to mention an afternoon spent cuddling my girl, telling her all about all the lovely things that I plan to make her and her brothers. Really, what could be better?

Lots and lots of knitting to come! But for now I’ll be slipping into love-struck stare mode, basking in the glow of certain newly two-month old baby girl.

That is an adorable hat! I just learned how to knit this past Fall, and I have already found that when too much time goes by without those needles in my hands I , too, get antsy. What a sweet baby she is.

Oh geez! How adorable. You’re totally making me have baby lust. Must. Get. Away. From. Computer. Now.

I get depressed if I go to long without knitting or crocheting. I get so happy when I have a chance to work with yarn.

Adorable rosey cheeks(can't give her an unbiased rosiest though, since my now one year old still has hers)and that cap is the perfect shade of pink for her. Can't wait to see more of your knitting. I am lost without my needles & hooks ona daily basis.
I wish I could afford that kind of trip to my lys. But I am happy with my meager luxury one skein book, one skein of yarn for gifts and one indulgent sale cotton skein to make our Harmony a 'singlet' for summer.

I just made this pattern too- for my 2 year old son. I love it.
