Matching: The New Generation

Sometimes when we go out I want to post some sort of disclaimer on my kids. Like a big sandwich board or something that clearly states that I had nothing to do with this. This being their cutesy coordinating outfits. Sometimes I feel like I’m getting eye-rolling type looks from people and I want to stop and say “look, I’m not torturing them, they planned this out themselves, it was all their idea, I swear…”

The fact is that my kids love to match. They love it! Iain now, cool 9 year old boy that he is, is just starting to grow out of this a little. He’s just ok with it though, and quite content to humor his brothers, not outright embarrassed yet, though I imagine that will come.

All the other kids? Yup, still lovin’ it. The number one way to get Galen psyched about one of my creations? Put some animals on it. The second best way? Make something similar for one of his siblings. And now we’ve added in the whole new dynamic of brother-sister match-y-ness. I’m warning you now folks, this could easily get out of hand…

But hey, it makes them happy and in a way it works for me too because it kind of ensures that all the cuts of fabric get used as efficiently as possible. And ok, I’ll admit (though only in a very, very small voice) that it is kind of cute, even if it is in a saccharine sweet kind of way.

This combo is for the fall. New Conceptions Reversible Pants for him and a k.p. kid’s & co. “Little Sprouts” jumper for her.

Gotta love a good remnants rack find!

Bring on the matchy…
