I had completely forgotten about this week’s I ♥ Faces challenge. It’s “Barefoot Week” with a focus on anything foot or shoe related, to help raise awareness for Soles 4 Souls.
As it turns out, I happened to take a picture on this very subject yesterday…
About the shoes…oh, the shoes! Little Rosebud’s shoes. They are a bit too big. I bought them for her to wear this autumn. But we let her open the package when they came, and of course she wanted to try them on.
Then she spent 15 minutes or so, walking around from person to person, holding up one foot and then the other and pointing while exclaiming, “Pitteee sooooos! Pitteee soos!”
And if she’s not wearing them now, she goes and finds them and walks around the house holding them up while going, “EH-eh!!” to various people until someone puts them on her.
And if you ever try to put other shoes on her? She cries.
In honor of Miss Màiri Rose and her beloved shoes, the song we’ve been singing to her every time we slip them on. A song written by a friend of ours about another little fellow who loved his shoes: Shoes: Farewell My Pants by The Nields from their album All Together Singing in the Kitchen.
Good taste! You can’t beat a wingtip shoe. Used to have a nice pair of Cole Haan’s back in the day and I sure do miss those shoes! Lucky little Mairi!!!
Aeowyn loves the shoes Of course The kids really loved the song too
OK – so, I have never left a comment on your blog (although I should, having gained tons of inspiration, recipes, advice, tears, laughs, etc.) But, those shoes FINALLY got me to write you….Where are they from? I have to have them for my little Misia. Adorable!
I met you once at a workshop at Michaelmas farm. I have a little boo who is about 2 months older than your Mairi, and I found your blog when I was up late one night, nursing and cooing with my newborn, and have been reading ever since. Thanks for sharing your life with us!
Hi Amy! Yes, I remember meeting you at the workshop. I hope you are doing well! The shoes are by See Kai Run (they are the best kid’s shoes): http://www.seekairun.com/cgi-bin/commerce.cgi?preadd=action&key=BRENNA
Well Heather, I think you should get her some. And that way, when she outgrows them M will be all set with a bigger pair
Those shoes are adorable.
