Last year right around the time I was starting to think about autumn clothes for the boys, Elijah spotted this heathered- bulky- baby alpaca yarn, while looking over my shoulder as I browsed the new arrivals at my favorite yarn site. He asked that I please make him a sweater with the pretty ‘puple’ yarn. I was planning on making him a sweater anyway, so I thought why not? We looked through some pattern books together and he picked out a pattern. Shortly after the yarn arrived a little sweater and hat were made. Sadly, the sweet little pewter kitten buttons that he picked out simply refuse to stay in their holes, which tends to be very frustrating to a little boy who likes to “run like the wind”.
Elijah now says purple and gold is currently ranked right next to purple as his favorite color (very royal this boy is). It’s been over a year now and the sweater still fits with room to grow. One of the great things about alpaca yarn is that it tends to stretch and grow with you. I’ve promised to replace the buttons with some simple round ones that will hopefully stay fastened and the kittens are to be a part of a necklace or some other such fancy thing.
