Here is the little coat that I knitted for Galen this fall. It was my first time working a full project with cables. I’m pleased with it. He looks really sweet in it and it is quite warm. The cables were actually quite simple, but they made the project more time consuming then I had anticipated.
This was made from Peace Fleece’s wool/mohair blend yarn in Tundra.
It’s hard to get a picture that really shows the texture and details. I went a little bit over-board with sizing up, but I’m kind of glad since it will fit him for another year or two.
The collar, cuffs and trim are all done in moss stitch.
It comes down to about his knees which is right about where it is supposed to fall. He still has lots of room across the chest and lot of length in the sleeves. The cable pattern on the back is designed to make subtle pleats.
Here is a close-up of the details on the arms and the saddle across the shoulder.
