For about a year and a half now Iain has been telling us that he wants to grow his hair down to his toes. Then suddenly today when I was talking to Elijah about a possible haircut, (which didn’t happen, because now he wants to grow his hair down to his toes) Iain announced that he wanted a hair cut.
Truth be told, I was not only startled, but a little sad as well. I love his thick beautiful hair and I kind of dug his non-conformist attitude about it. It was getting hard for him to take care of though and it’s nice to have a change every once in a while.
His new style is pretty, well, interesting what with the entire haircut being totally child lead.
“How ’bout I cut the sides to match the back?”
“Nope, the sides are short enough.”
“um…ok”
Putting hair out for the birds to use in their nests.
As it turns out, I think he looks terribly sweet. He’s kind of got the Christopher Robin look going on now. Cute!
I suppose it would be really wrong of me to make him a little Christopher Robin inspired wardrobe, huh? That tends to be the kind of thing that comes up in therapy as an adult… As if it’s not bad enough that, ever since finding a super sweet smock pattern, I’m seriously considering making Elijah a “Peter in Blueberry Land” summer outfit.
This evening Iain informed me that this was strictly a spring/summer thing and that he intended to start growing his hair back again come fall. In the mean time the birds should be happy anyway!
