Boring, boring, boring….

These are just some boring sweatpants, but they’ve been sitting in my work pile for, oh, umm…a year and a half now, and I finally sewed them up last week, so I’m posting them!

They were originally going to be one pair of reversible pants, but at the last minute I decided to make two pairs of pants instead. One pair is fuzzy outside and one it smooth. They are made from organic cotton/hemp fleece that I bought a huge amount of a couple of years ago (at a super-great co-op price, woo-hoo!).

For Iain’s 6th birthday I made him and Elijah each a sweatshirt, which we tie-dyed together using black walnut hulls, along with the pants pieces.

Here are a couple of other things from the same dye-pot. The baby bag sleepers are made from the same organic hemp/cotton fleece. One dyed with the walnut hulls and one left natural. I found it interesting that the dying process tinted the snaps too. The little shirt and pants are organic terry, with the trim and pants dyed.

Would you look at the color of those booties! They are also from the same dye-pot. They were made from my favorite organic merino yarn. I’ve mentioned before how interesting I think it is that different fibers absorb color in different ways.

And here is a little bunny suit made for Galen’s first Halloween, using a combination of the same organic fleece and organic terry, also dyed with walnut hulls.

It’s a shame that you can’t see the inside of the ears. I dyed them a sweet pink color using madder root, making them a shade similar to this little jacket.

Which was made from the above mentioned terry and dyed with madder root. (yes, I’m trying to fill out the boring sweatpants post, so what of it??)

And here are Iain and Elijah in their Christmas pj’s from two years ago.

In pants that actually were reversible, and very soft and warm, or so I am told. These were made from the same fleece, but I experimented with using chlorophyll to dye them. I liked the color I got, but it didn’t last.

And here are some pictures of the kids in the Christmas pajamas I made them the first year that we had a digital camera. Which really has nothing to do with anything, except I came across them and my kids look all little and cute in them, so there you go…

Ok, I am so done with this post now.
