My boy in his sweater….

On a day not only suited to sweaters, but hats as well. (The hat, by the way, was knitted from peace fleece yarn, and was part of his “blueberry boy” costume this past Halloween.) Can someone explain to me why on earth I thought we already had our last fire for the season??

Our photo shoot didn’t last long, as the model was getting cold and kept crossing his arms over the sweater to keep warm.

Here at long last is the Herringbone Sweater. I have no idea where this pattern came from. It’s something that Steve copied for me out of a library book a while ago. The yarn is just cheap-o sugar ‘n cream cotton in the faded denim ombre.

As you can see the sweater is pretty big. The pattern was for an over-sized cut to begin with and I wanted to size up so that he would get lots of wear out of it. It did shrink some with washing. The length is right about where it should be, but the sleeves are ridiculous! I made them much shorter then the pattern called for and they are still huge. I was going to take it apart and shorten them, but Iain objected. I have no idea why, but he wants to keep them long. I wasn’t exactly relishing the thought of re-doing it, so I’m not going to argue with him.

Now I’m off to go build a fire, but just a small one, to keep the chill off…

love the hat, love the sweater. I came across your blog yesterday, and it is really nice. I have 6 kids, and I crochet, and do crossstitch. It looks like you have a dream home away from it all. How great. I hope to see more of your creations soon!

Oh I love the hat… I wish we lived closer so you could teach me to knit and we could sew together. *sigh*

Julian- Thank you! I had to laugh at your “dream home” comment. Our home is far, far from what most people would consider a dream home! It is far away from “it all” though and the land we live on is downright enchanting. We are hoping to finish building our home someday and turn it into our dream house. I do love it here.

Heather- I know, me too! I’ve always wanted to have a couple of wonderful mama friends IRL to get together and craft with. How fabulous would that be??
