Once upon a time there was a little star child. For a long, long time he flew from star to star collecting light and music from all around him. One day the little star child went to the sun. It was a place of warmth shining like gold. There the dragonflies, bees and butterflies sang to him of love. Next he went to the moon clean and glowing like new snow. From the moon he saw the most beautiful place- a place of flowers, trees, rolling oceans and three special souls who seemed to be smiling up at him. The little star child decided to use his gifts of light and music to cross over the rainbow bridge where a father, a mother and a brother had been waiting for him. And so the star child came to his new home on earth…
And from the first moment his family loved him and they called him Elijah Rain and Elijah Rain was his name. When he was born it was a chilly spring evening. The wind sprang up and sung loudly blowing away the clouds so that a million stars could smile down upon him. He looked around quietly, happy to finally be on earth.
And then Elijah was one and when we asked his favorite he said “dinerrrr” and when we asked his worst he said “dinerrr”. He climbed into drawers to play and ate un-peeled carrots from the farm. He set off the fire extinguisher covering the kitchen with fine white snow. He laughed and played and grew.
And then he was two and could walk all the way to the big rock. He drove Mommy crazy knocking over piles of laundry, cut paper snowflakes all by himself, and loved to rock in the rocking chair and sing.
And then he was three and he learned to ride a tricycle. He collected almost every mushroom in the forest and started making everything “Puple”. He became a big brother because Galen was born. He made him pictures and sewed him a doll and held him and sang to him when he cried.
And then he was four and he could jump high in the air and fight off wretched knights with his sword, and win card games and hammer nails and finger knit.
Now Elijah is 5 and he can shoot a bow and arrow and count in Spanish and fly almost to the sky on the trampoline. Elijah has grown strong and beautiful, smart and kind and we are happy to be here with him on his 5th birthday!
And what a wonderful story!
Such lovely phots for a lovely little boy! What a wonderful birthday!

I just love your versions of the rainbow bridge story ( I wrote one for my boy before he was born, but I think I am a little long winded!) and all the wonderful birthday festivities. That cake made me laugh. I had a couple that looked like that in my childhood!
Happy belated birthday, you interesting and much-love little fellow. Here’s to many happy and safe adventures. Somehow, I think that you’ll go far!
Thank you all. He is an incredible little guy and we are so blessed to have him in our lives.
