Remember my knitting goals from the beginning of the summer? Let’s do a quick review, shall we?
1) Sweater for Elijah- I actually did this one. I still have some seaming to do, but it should be finished shortly. (yay! For once I did what I said I would do!)
2) a pair of shorties and a soaker- oops…kind of forgot about that! I’m not sure whether to count the blue picky pants as the longies that appear further down on this list, or as the shorties, since they turned out somewhere in-between…
3) 3 pairs of mittens (one pair per child)- Not a mitten in sight. Not even one.
4) 2 felted llamas for my sisters (don’t ask)-Do I get any credit for starting them? One is actually knitted, but only knitted. The other one I didn’t get very far on. I kind of fizzled out when I realized that we didn’t have enough water for the felting process. Which is kind of horrible of me, since they were for their birthdays in August! Excuses and apologies have been made. It’s the first birthday of their lives that I’ve ever missed, so I think I should get a little slack there. Plus, they know that gifts are coming some time. I suppose I really should get back to work on those, but while we have a bit of water right now, our supply is still not consistent enough that I can “waste” it on something like felting. Which is to say, that they will probably continue to sit at the bottom of my knitting basket for a long while yet…
5) longies- see number 2.
6) possibly a shirt for me- I did not make the little shirt for me that I had in mind. I did however, make that spur of the moment little caplet. I made a sweater for sweet baby Galen. And I sewed myself a shirt with a hand-knitted lace accent.
7) at least a few of the random little things I’ve been thinking about (a panta, more bibs, maybe a few dishcloths, little toys, you get the idea)- And in the “random little things” category… there were bibs and more bibs. Also, a dishcloth to purse makeover. I did end up knitting myself a hat (using the yarn that I had intended for item #6) and one fingerless glove to go with it. I’ll be posting it once the other glove is done.
So, that’s what I accomplished in the realm of knitting this summer. It’s not what I had hoped. It never is! But, there are certainly a few more knitted items around here then there were back in June. Considering how busy I was this summer with our building project, honestly, I’m amazed I got done as much as I did!
