Hmmm….I think I’m gonna need a movie…

So, things have been rather hectic here lately, which is my short and sweet explanation for not being around much these days.
This weekend was supposed to be reserved for making Halloween costumes, however, a building related incident left me sick and very weak, at which point all bets were off.

Let’s see, two days….three costumes….yeah, I see a couple of all-nighters in my future!

In the meantime, here are some random scenes from our week…

You have such a lovely weblog and it looks like your life is as lovely. I want to pick up your baby and give him the biggest hug, he is so adorable.

Okay so I’ve now read your archives and perhaps “lovely” is not the word you would use for your life over the past few years. But may I still tell you that you have inspired me with the beauty and the family love you have shared here? Your property is stunning, your new house, blossoming around you, is going to be amazing, and what a great family you have! I’m so glad I found your weblog. Thank you for sharing.

ncole- they were so pleased with that candle. It was one of the ones they dipped back in February. We don’t lite candles often anymore because of our breathing problems, but when we do, it’s such a treat!

patience- thank you for all of your kind words. yes, our health is improving, slowly but surely.

Grace- I’m afraid I don’t have a pattern! Which is rather a shame since I’ve had several other people ask for one as well. I just made it up as I went along. I blogged about it here: http://littlehomeblessings.blogspot.com/2006/12/my-first-spinning-project.html
It was quite simple and I’m sure you could come up with something similar without much trouble. I would think that a bulky thick and thin yarn would give a similar look. I did the whole thing in SS, letting the brim roll naturally. When I got to the top of the head shaping I added in some more rows then usual between decreases to make it slightly pointed. Then I went back and picked up 6 or so stitches from under the brim to make the ear flaps (decreasing to create a basic triangle shape). The ties were twisted using a drop spindle.
