Things are quieting down here since my family left.
We had a good visit. There were many batches of almond butter “brownies“, lots of laughs, a little bit of sledding, some yarn shopping, many episodes of “Studio 60″ (complements of my sister Tina who brought the entire series with her) and very little sleep. I taught my sister how to knit cables. My Mom made a neat little stack of beautiful granny squares. I made lots and lots of crimped yarn while remembering why I gave up crocheting in favor of knitting several years ago! Very good stuff over-all.
We are still settling into a groove here while getting back on track with our post-holiday homeschooling, as well as plans for Iain’s upcoming birthday and party. I just wanted to take a moment to share with you a quote that I came across, that for me, sums up the attitude that I wish to carry with me into the new year.
“However mean your life is, meet it and live it; do not shun it and call it hard names. It is not bad…It looks poorest when you are richest. The fault-finder will find faults even in paradise. Love your life, poor as it is. You may perhaps have some pleasant, thrilling, glorious hours, even in a poorhouse…The sun is reflected from the windows of the almshouse as brightly as from the rich man’s abode; the snow melts before its door as early in the spring.”
~Henry David Thoreau
May life bring many blessings to you in 2008
Great quote!
Happy New Year to you and yours.
Happy New Year! I look forwards to hearing more of what your new year holds, (and some house updates too!)
